According to Foxnews.com, an office manager in Florida was arrested this week after she threw a surprise birthday party for her boss. The employee apparently was solely responsible for handling billing and payroll for a realty company in Boca Grande for over 10 years. She made the mistake of paying for the surprise party without getting any permission. This created some interest from others in the company and prompted an appraisal of the accounting, which in turn led investigators to find that she embezzled over $181,674 from the company during her tenure. She allegedly used $92,000 to pay off her credit cards and gave herself $65,000 in bonus checks. She now faces felony counts of grand theft and defraud charges.
Her party is over and her future isn’t looking very pretty.
